Adult III is a Bible study class using the “Bible Studies For Life” series from Lifeway Publications. The Advanced Bible Study Commentary is used as a study guide. The class is designed for as much class participation as possible with the teacher leading the discussion.

Our members ages range from 40 years up. The class is primarily a “couples class” but there are several attenders who are widowers, widowed, or those whose mates are serving in other capacities during the Sunday School hour.

We meet in the fellowship hall in the north end of the room.

Open Class

The OPEN class meets in the church parlor.  This class features wide-ranging discussions of Christian perspectives on issues such as morality, ethics, ecology, etc.  Some sessions focus on a close investigation of a particular section of the scriptures, for example, John’s gospel, the “David story,” or the Psalms.  Often these discussions are structured by studying a book on the subject.

We are currently working through the book of Daniel.

We recently finished studying Encountering God by Diana L. Eck .

We have previously studied Genesis, a Translation and Commentary by Robert Alter, Rich Christians In an Age of Hunger by Ronald J. Sider, American Jesus by Stephen Prothero,  Questions to All Your Answers by Roger E. Olson, Encountering God by Diana L. Eck, Acts, Ephesians, Jeremiah . . .

The class encourages participation in the discussion by all in attendance, and is led by an informal group of instructors who rotate responsibility for initiating discussion.
