Church Pianist/Accompanist

Purpose for this Position:

The Church Pianist/Accompanist is the ministry team member responsible for playing for traditional congregational services and accompanying groups and soloists as assigned by the Choir Director or Pastor. This person assists the Music and Worship Minister and Pastor with the direction of congregational and choral activities as required.

Responsibilities:

The duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  1. Playing for all traditional services of the church as requested by the Music and Worship Minister or Pastor.

  2. Accompanying the Adult Choir

  3. Accompanying other choirs, ensembles and soloists as requested.

  4. Serving as an integral part of the planning and leadership of the traditional worship service.

  5. Coordinating with other members of the worship team in selection, preparation, and playing of prelude, offertory, and postlude selections for traditional services

  6. In the event of an absence, the Church Pianist/Accompanist is responsible for securing replacement

Essential Qualifications:

The Church Pianist/Accompanist must demonstrate the musical ability and spiritual development necessary to fulfill the purpose of the position. As a member of the ministry team, the pianist/accompanist is expected to also be an active member and supporter of the church.

Supervision:

The Church Pianist/Accompanist reports directly to the Music and Worship Minister and Pastor.

The Church Pianist/Accompanist works alongside Traditional Worship Team,, providing support, input and encouragement with the goal of increasing the success of UBC’s music ministry.
